The Red Purple Modernization Project is a work in progress to make the century old transit line better for tens of thousands of people.

But there is a slight obstacle…a house blocking what could be a straight L track.

To take the curve out, the CTA needs to move this 127 year old building, the old Vautravers residential building at Clark and Newport in Lakeview East.

It it weighs a whopping 1,000 tons!
