Upcoming Road Projects in West Chicago, Elgin and Joliet from IDOT

The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced some new road projects to begin in the upcoming weeks.

Illinois 59 in West Chicago
According to IDOT, there will be temporary, daytime lane closures on Route 59 for improvements between Dayton Avenue and Browning Way, in West Chicago, beginning, weather permitting, Monday, Sept. 28.
Projects mentioned from these improvements include drainage upgrades and new traffic signals at Dayton Avenue and Browning Way. There will also be a right turn lane added on northbound Route 59 at Dayton. Beginning on Monday, September 28th, weather permitting, this work is projected to be completed in May of 2016.

 

Illinois 31 in Elgin
South of Chicago Street in Elgin, Illinois 31 will be closed for repairs to the railroad crossing. This project is expected to begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, September 28th, 2015 with completion set for Saturday, October 3rd, 2015 by 7 a.m.
According to IDOT, a detour will be posted. Northbound Illinois 31 will be routed east on U.S. 20, north on Illinois 25 and west on Chicago Street/Highland Avenue to reconnect with Illinois 31. Southbound traffic will follow the reverse route.

 

Brandon Road Bridge Repairs in Joliet
This project is not scheduled to occur until Monday, October 12th (Columbus Day), 2015 to be completed by October 16th.

According to IDOT, northbound traffic will detour east on Laraway Road, north on Illinois 53, west on McDonough Street (U.S. 52) and southwest on U.S. 6 to Brandon Road.  Southbound traffic will follow the reverse route.  Marine traffic will not be affected by the closure.
