I want you to meet one of my biggest inspirations, and close friend, Alfredo. His first 100-mile race was the Potawatomi 100 two years ago…the same race I am taking on this weekend.
“I just hope that I can come to Pot[awatomi] to see you finish. I just want to see you finish your first hundred.” – Alfredo
This race is for him.

This was a bucket of ice cold water. I ran with the New Leaf Ultra group during the winter and spring of 2013 as I was preparing for my first ultra. I had the pleasure of running several times with Alfredo, who never showed up without a smile. I haven’t run with the group since but I remember him very fondly … what awful news to read. It really puts everyone’s petty running injuries in stark perspective. All the best to him and his family.
