(CHICAGO) The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that beginning Friday, Jan. 29, at 10 p.m. the Halsted Street over the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) bridge will be closed to motorists and pedestrians.

The closure will remain in effect until Saturday, Jan. 30 at 6 a.m.

This full shut down will also affect the CTA Halsted Street entrance to the Blue Line UIC-Halsted station. This will be inaccessible to public transit riders from 10 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Monday.

According to IDOT, “CTA riders will be detoured to the Peoria Street Bridge for access to the UIC-Halsted station, which will be open to CTA customers.”

Both drivers and CTA passengers are urged to use the Morgan Street Bridge and CTA station as alternates.
