Public Comments Sought on I-55 Managed Lanes Project

COUNTRYSIDE – The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will host a public meeting Dec. 9 to discuss the proposed addition of a managed traffic lane on Interstate 55 (Stevenson Expressway) from Interstate 355 (Veterans Memorial Tollway), in Bolingbrook, to Interstate 90/94 (Dan Ryan Expressway), in Chicago. The public is invited to attend and offer comments on the various alternatives under consideration.
The scope of the project consists of implementing a managed lane facility within the existing median of I-55, providing a new travel choice to improve mobility, travel times and the operational efficiency of the corridor.
The public meeting will be in an open-house format at the following time and location:

Exhibits will be on display and an audio-visual presentation will be shown continuously. Project team members will be present to discuss the project and answer questions. Written comments also can be submitted at the meeting, mailed afterward or made through the project website Comments received by Dec. 23 will become part of the official meeting record.
