Wizard World Comic Con Coming to Chicago This Week

The Wizard World Comic Con is coming to Chicago this week, and I must confess…that this is my first time going! However, if I am going to do it, I am going to do it right. Not only will I be bringing back some information from the kick-off event on Wednesday, August 19th at Level 257 in Schaumburg, but also breaking out the superhero spandex and dressing up when I head to the event for the day on Sunday in Rosemont.

Kick Off Event

According to the official press release from Wizard World, the kick-off event features some of the top celebrities, cos-players, and artists in comic and sci-fi entertainment. It all happens on Wednesday, August 19, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Level 257 at the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg.

Tickets for Kick off the Con are $20 “early bird,” $30 with transportation to and from Hyatt Regency O’Hare. Perks included in this ticket are a one-hour Level Up card for free game play at Level 257, one house cocktail, beer, or wine and complimentary appetizers. Tickets can still be purchased today at wizd.me/KOTCChicago. I’d suggest you hurry though before they sell out.

Special guest celebrities are said to attend the kick off event, too! Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Walking Dead) and, “Peter Petrelli”, or, Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes, Gotham) are just a couple.

I already told you that I plan on dressing up when I head to the event on Sunday, so unfortunately I will be missing the costume contest on Saturday. Get dressed up and give it a try yourself! Wizard World Comic Con Chicago is also the place for cos-play, with fans young and old showing off their best costumes throughout the event. Fans dressed as every imaginable character will roam the convention floor and participate in the famed Wizard World Costume Contest on Saturday night.

I’m no stranger to playing dress up, so here are a few things that I’ve worn in the past…

A best friend and I ran our first 50k (31 miles) back in 2010 as the Flash and Aquaman.

There was this one time that I was able to fit into this costume, so I played Black Widow for Halloween.

I paired up my Black Widow costume with a purple cape to help fight blood cancers.

WHO DO YOU THINK THAT I WILL BE DRESSED UP AS FOR THIS YEAR’S WIZARD WORLD EVENT?
