Wednesday, April 22nd From Wacker to Clark
Project to Ease Congestion, Modernize Traffic Flow, and Improve Loop Connections to Neighborhoods

(CHICAGO) The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) said today that previously announced lane closures on Washington St. as part of the Loop Link transit project are scheduled to begin this Wednesday, April 22. During construction, two lanes of traffic will be open on Washington from Wacker Drive to Clark St. Lane closures currently in place on Madison St. from Michigan to Wacker Drive will remain in effect.

Starting early Wednesday, crews will shift all traffic on eastbound Washington St. from Wacker to Clark into two lanes along the north side of the street. Under this configuration, all curbside loading and parking on Washington will be eliminated within the construction zone, from Wacker to Clark. Permanent curbside zones in this stretch are being relocated to north-south streets, including Franklin, Wells and LaSalle. Access will be maintained to alleys and parking lots in the construction zone.

In addition, the right turn from Washington at LaSalle will be eliminated. This right turn restriction will remain in effect once the project is complete.
